Can Uber Drivers Get Pay Stubs?

Uber doesn't give you a pay stub — but landlords still ask for one. Here's exactly what Uber provides, what it doesn't, and how to create your own in 60 seconds.

What Uber Actually Provides

Uber treats drivers as independent contractors (1099 workers), not employees. That means Uber does not process payroll, does not withhold taxes, and does not issue pay stubs.

What Uber does provide:

  • Weekly earnings statements — available in the Uber Driver app under “Earnings” tab. Shows trips completed, gross fares, bonuses, and Uber's service fee.
  • Annual tax summary — shows yearly gross earnings; available each January for the previous tax year
  • 1099-K form — if you earned $5,000+ via card transactions (threshold changed per state)
  • 1099-NEC form — for bonuses, referrals, and other non-trip income over $600

None of these are pay stubs. A landlord asking for “pay stubs” wants a document showing your regular income, pay period, taxes, and net pay — something Uber doesn't generate.

How to Get Your Uber Earnings Data

Before creating a pay stub, pull your actual earnings from Uber:

  1. Open the Uber Driver app
  2. Tap Earnings in the bottom navigation
  3. Select a week to see trip-by-trip breakdown
  4. For a summary, go to drivers.uber.com → Tax Information → Annual Summary
  5. Screenshot or download your earnings history for reference

How Uber Drivers Create Pay Stubs

Using StubFast's gig worker mode, you can generate a professional income verification document in under a minute:

  1. Go to the Uber Driver Pay Stub Generator
  2. Select Gig Worker stub type, then choose Uber as the platform
  3. Enter your name, state, and pay period
  4. Enter your gross earnings for the period (from your Uber earnings screen)
  5. Optionally enter trip count and miles driven
  6. Preview your stub live — taxes calculated automatically
  7. Download free watermarked preview, or get a clean PDF for $6.99
Important: Use your real earnings

Only enter your actual Uber earnings. Entering false income amounts to commit fraud on rental or loan applications is a criminal offense. StubFast is for documenting real income.

How Uber Income Is Taxed

As an Uber driver (1099 contractor), you pay self-employment tax instead of having FICA withheld:

  • Self-employment tax: 15.3% on 92.35% of net earnings (after expenses)
  • Federal income tax: Based on your total annual income and filing status
  • State income tax: Varies by state
  • Mileage deduction: You can deduct $0.67/mile (2024 IRS rate) for business miles driven — this significantly reduces your taxable income

StubFast's gig worker mode calculates all of these automatically based on your gross earnings and state.

Best Approach for Apartment Applications

Recommended package for Uber drivers:
  1. Generate 3 monthly pay stubs using StubFast (matching your actual Uber earnings each month)
  2. Include 3 months of bank statements showing Uber deposits
  3. Include your Uber annual tax summary or 1099 form if available

Pro tip: If your Uber income varies significantly month-to-month, use your average monthly earnings across 3–6 months as the basis for your stubs. This gives landlords a more stable income picture.
